28 November 2009

This week we've been putting a pop top on Mike and Sue's Bay
Fitting a pop top to Mark and Marnie's bay
We got an MOT on Pauls 15 window
We undersealed and rustproofed Paul's bay
Tom dropped off his 15 Window - we will now see this through to completion
also this week we have started prepping Jason's bus to receive a new front end - a few pictures on that one next week.
We've been tucking in to a SO42 and also started major work on Simon's bay. Again, more pics next week when I get the time.

SO42 Project

The so42 project is coming on nicely and we've now got almost all of the lower-half rot cut out and the panels cleaned back.

We've removed the front inner and outer valence and cleaned back to the chassis. Just routine repairs with new panels needed here.
The front floors were pretty poor and have ben cut out.
we knew the bus had a front clip from another bus at some point and now we can see the joins!
....not the best of jobs really. These areas will be sorted out with new chassis grade steel before new front floor panels are welded in
The load area has also been cleaned up - all good news here - it's in great condition. A new floor and sills under the loading doors will see this area done.

50-67 17 November 2009

Simon's bus has come in from the cold for the start of it's makeover. This week we will sort out a few rust issues and get the bus lowered.
.........did I mention we have a Type 4!
Des sent his bus down from London. Lots to do on this one over the next couple of weeks.

50-67s Winter Project

Here we go, our newest project car, a 1973 412LS. This one has the 'hot' 85bhp 1800 motor and has been sitting in a barn in for 22 years. The car had done 60,000 miles when it was laid up in 1987. Jeff discovered the car some time ago and brought it down to Cornwall last week.

Unlike most Type 4's this one isn't rusty! Just a couple of spots to do in the front arches and it's completely rust free.
This is a rare car so, apart from a few subtle touches, it will remain fairly standard.

50-67 16 November 2009

Very busy as ever here at 50-67. Here's the view outside
........and here's the view inside!
..........it's a lot of fun here squeezing everything back in at night!!!
Jules' bus is ready to go having had 2 new front wheelarches, seatbelt mounting points, a rear corner, replacement bumpers and a battery tray

A new arrival - more on this one later

Colin has been puting the finishing touches to Mikes Bus
he's also been putting a new headlining in Richie's bus
Richie's bus is nearly good to go. Just a few windows and some wheels and tyres and it's off.
The SO42 project is coming on slowly but surely
Sam has been tackling the accident damage at the rear

6 November 2009

Another Creative Engineering steering rack fitted this week. Andy's bus now has the full works: CSP disc brakes, Creative IRS and the rack conversion.

.............a little more grot cut out of Jason's bus

Jason's Split

A Little more progress on Jason's split. Really tricky bits these - any errors and the roof will look rubbish and the rear hatch can't shut.with the outer skin cut away we expose more holes on the frame
These holes are sorted and the area then loaded with zinc paint
next a fabricated repair panel is stiched into place
and then the welds are dressed back
holes are drilled afterwards to inject cavity wax.
Having done a superb job on the side gutters, sam set about sorting the rear corners and rear panel
first job was to fabricate a corner gutter
epoxy/zinc the inner frame
fabricate and weld a repair panel
with the welds dressed back the corner is as good as new - next step will be the rear panel.

Here's a brief rundown on what's going on today:

Sam is busy sorting out the rear of the roof on Jason's bus
Jeff is fitting a Creative Engineering steering rack to Andy's bus
Colin is finishing off the trim on Mike and Sue's 13 - there will be lots more info on trimming once Colin sets up his blog at ............. http://trimshop.blogspot.com/
Jem has sorted out the brakes on Marnie's bus and is now straightening the bodywork on Tim's '56
Chris is sorting out Mikes bumpers
......and finally, Matt is finishing off the panels on Richies Bay

Hope to get some pictures up later if I can get our new cheap and nasty digi camera working.
