19th Feb 2011

A few things I missed on the last blog entry....................

Phil's bus has now been painted and is looking very smart indeed. Now we have stopped making a mess we should be able to get some smart new wheels and tyres on it very shortly.

The '56 is now alive with most of the electrics working. Yesterday we turned our attention to the engine and have stripped it to check over the internals. It will go back together on Monday having been fully serviced and bench run.

This bay needed quite a lot of work and will be going through it's MOT test on Monday.

Adam's front floor is looking great

This split will be back in next week for a going over prior to sale. More details next week.
.............and good news for Jason; we've now got your rear corner and will be fitting it next week.

cheers for now

16th Feb 2011

Wow, it's getting busy here. The workshop is full and we've secured a load of fresh work from old and new customers - it's going to be a full-on year here at 50-67.

Once again, thanks go out to all our good friends for their help and support.

Here's a few random shots of what's going on -

Nicks 23 is is back on the go now that we've secured some doors. Once the front end is lined up correctly we will media blast the whole front end. if we had done that earlier there would have been no bus left!
Matt has spend hundreds of hours on the GUL Wetsuits bus - this is going to be amazing
Ross and Brenda's bus has a new loom, fusebox and lots of other tricky bits done. We have already fitted the rebuilt gearbox and dropped spindles - next job is the brakes
Simon's '57 came in for some love and drove off with new brake parts
Anouska's bus is nearly ready for paint preparation - shaping up really well
After hundreds of hours and a lot of graft we are ready to paint Phils doors and hatches. The bus is then going to Nigel Allen for a TDI conversion
Welding continues on Adams bus. After fitting a front panel we've now fitted a brand new front floor

preparation for paint will begin soon
The black bay is getting monstered and is coming on nicely
Jason...........................stand by for more pictures soon
More updates soon

All in place now and looking a little better
Adam's bus was a little bit more poorly than we expected but we're getting there now

new lower arches and A pillars

front completely stripped and new inner and outer front valance fitted

a good coat of epoxy zinc primer
...................and bingo, we've got a bus again

A Belated Happy New Year to You All

A belated happy new year to you all.

Very sorry there have been no updates since November but I've been a bit poorly recently and have not been into the workshop for a couple of months. I'm on the mend now and hope to get back into the thick of it in a month or so. I'd like to publicly thank Petra for holding the fort in my absence and to all my friends for the best wishes and offers of support - thank you all.

50-67 is still very busy as ever and the workshop is full to bursting. Lots of splits, a few bays and a t3 all still "in progress" and coming along nicely.

Below are just a few pictures of the projects and quick jobs we've been dealing with this month. I hope to resume a more regular blog next week.

Cheers people :-)

one of the many splits we have in the 'shop'
and another
and another
Another poorly bay getting torn apart
This nearly new Danbury had a huge amount of upgrades
the '56 ready to fit up
lots more photos and more info soon -- honest!
As a final word I thought I'd better mention that Colin the trimmer has outgrown the offices in our workshop and will be moving next door into a much bigger space very soon. We wish him all the very best on his expansion. Cheers Colin

Feature Bus

A little while back we had this cool bay in for some suspension work and we dropped it a few inches all round. The bus is on the front cover of the latest VW Camper and Commercial magazine and has a good write-up inside. We'd like to thank Jonny for giving 50-67 a mention.

50-67 21 October 2010

Still very busy here so sorry for the lack of updates.

Plenty of servicing and general work going on. This bay was in for brake work
and this bay was in for servicing
The '69 now has a motor, rock'n'roll bed, electric hookup and other electrical work
we are now in the process of removing the front drums and upgrading to discs
The GUL bus is going well. Most of the welding is done and we are now in the process of removing paint.
a combination of paint stripper and gentle media blasting is doing the job
starting to look really good
The refit of Phils syncro continues and we are well into sorting out the interior
The late bay with the torn-off roof has had a lot of metalwork and the roof is back on and ready to use.
This late split is in for the whole works over the winter
Our polo is looking a bit sad so it's also getting some love over the winter.
and finally, Helens bus is getting fitted up with safari windows, deluxe trim, rims and a cool interior

that's it for now - stand by for updates on Nick's 23 in the next day or so.
